Classic Sacred Valley – Full Day

In the Sacred Valley of the Incas there are beautiful colonial towns, which today show their beauty in architecture, art and living culture. First we will find the colonial town of Pisac known for its craft fair and it’s Archaeological Center of Pisac, Urubamba and its cosmopolitanism, Ollantaytambo, with its fortress and its living Inca town and the town of Chinchero and its textiles. In this valley of the Incas, the communities have created rural and experiential tourism products that amaze all visitors. The Sacred Valley of the Incas is located northeast of Cusco, and has an altitude of 2,000 to 2,800 masl. For this reason, the valley has the best climate in the entire Cusco region, which varies during the day between 22 and 25 °C, and at night, it reaches between 10 and 8 °C.

Itinerary

Classic Sacred Valley - Full Day

After breakfast at your hotel, we will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. We will travel through the highlands surrounding the city of Cusco on our way to the Sacred Valley. The first stop is at an alpaca farm, where you will meet the famous South American camelids: llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos, and learn about their differences, importance, and habits. Next, we will arrive at the Taray viewpoint, an observation platform from which you can admire the breathtaking views of the Sacred Valley, including the Urubamba River and the farmlands of the Peruvian Andes. Continuing the tour, we will visit the archaeological site of Pisac, an Inca settlement built atop a mountain, the lower part of which we will explore. This extraordinary place features a complex of impressive temples, houses, and hundreds of tombs surrounded by gigantic walls. Agricultural terraces can also be visited. After visiting the archaeological site, we’ll head to the town of Pisac and visit its artisan market. This is a popular spot for local artisans who craft their wares and sell them directly to tourists. Then we’ll travel to Urubamba, where you’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. The restaurant offers a buffet lunch with a variety of options and fresh, local produce. After lunch, we’ll travel to the charming town of Ollantaytambo, known as the «Last Living Inca City.» Another important archaeological site in the Sacred Valley, home to temples, gardens, and liturgical fountains. One of the most important battles between the Spanish and the Incas was also fought here. It’s worth mentioning that Ollantaytambo is also the gateway to the Inca wonder of Machu Picchu.

Afterward, we will begin our return to Cusco, stopping along the way in the town of Chinchero. Finally, we will return along the northwest side of Cusco and stop in Chinchero, a royal estate and ceremonial center of the Inca Empire. It is said to have been one of the favorite places of the tenth Inca king, Túpac Inca Yupanqui. During your visit, you will explore an Inca palace, visit its colonial church, and learn about the renowned weaving techniques and natural dyes of local artisans. We will end our day tour at your hotel in Cusco around 18:00 p.m.
