City Tour Cusco – Half Day

The Cusco City Tour is a half-day guided tour (approximately 5 hours) in the morning or in the afternoon, exploring the historic center and four nearby archaeological sites. It’s ideal for acclimatizing to the climate and learning about the Inca-colonial fusion, visiting the Qorikancha Temple, the Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park, Qenqo, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay, known as the Temple of Water. Finally, there is an option to visit the Cusco Cathedral to admire the colonial paintings.

Itinerary

City Tour Cusco - Half Day

We will begin our hotel pick-up according to your chosen time slot at 8:30 a.m. / 1:30 p.m. We will begin our tour through the main streets of Cusco.

The first visit will be to the Temple of Koricancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun, where you can appreciate the exquisite stonework of the Incas. Coricancha, or Qorikancha, was the most important temple during the Inca Empire. Its walls are still visible within the current structure, although its exterior appearance changed completely during the colonial period. This is also where the grand Inti Raymi celebration begins at the Qorikancha Temple, where the Sapa Inca pays homage to the Sun God. It is the first of three key reenactments, followed by the Plaza de Armas and culminating at Sacsayhuamán. Afterward, we will take our transportation to leave the city of Cusco and visit the archaeological site of Sacsayhuamán, the third and final point of the Inti Raymi festival, coinciding with the winter solstice. Its strategic location offers a panoramic view of Cusco. We will also visit the archaeological sites of Qenqo, Tambomachay, and Pucapucara. We will return to Cusco at approximately 1:00 p.m./6:00 p.m.
