Tour Cañon del Colca – 2D

The two-day Colca Canyon excursion begins with a scenic drive from Arequipa to Chivay, stopping to spot vicuñas at Pampa Cañahuas, drink coca tea in Patahuasi, and take in the views from the Mirador de los Volcanes at 4,800 meters. After lunch and hotel check-in, you have the afternoon free to visit the thermal hot springs before enjoying a traditional dinner folklore show. On the second day, you will head to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint to witness the majestic flight of the condor, stop at the town of Maca and agricultural viewpoints, and conclude with a return drive to Arequipa for a late afternoon hotel drop-off.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arequipa - Chivay

Early in the morning our staff will stop by your hotel at 07:30 a.m. to 08:00 a.m. We will begin our trip to one of the deepest and most beautiful canyons in our Peru. Our starting point for the tours will be from the town of Chivay, which we will arrive in approximately 4 hours, making stops at different tourist spots. As a first point, we will pass through Pampa Cañahuas, where we will appreciate the vicuñas that live in this area, then we will visit Patahuasi to drink the traditional Coca Mate, a traditional drink essential for altitude sickness (soroche). Then we will also make a small stop at the Toccra Bofedales where we will observe a large number of Alpacas grazing freely in the area. A mandatory stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, the highest point on the road that reaches 4,800 meters above sea level, from where we will appreciate a large part of the western mountain range, from this point it will only take 40 minutes to reach the town of Chivay. 12:30pm – We will arrive in Chivay to enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch we will settle in our respective hotels. In the afternoon we will have free time to rest or enjoy a relaxing bath in the Hot Springs (Optional entry paid on behalf of the client) whose thermo-medicinal waters range between 35º C to 38º C in temperature in the pools.

For dinner we can enjoy a folklore show with typical dances of the area.

Breakfast at the Hotel

After breakfast at the Hotel we will go to the Mirador de la Cruz del Cóndor, which is 30 minutes away from the Colca Canyon observatory and the spectacular flight of the Condor. At this point we will spend an average of 45 minutes to observe the beauty of the Colca Canyon.
On the way back we will stop at the viewpoints in the area from where we will observe the impressive Andenería del Valle and in the town of Maca, where we will visit its church 12:00pm – Lunch in Chivay. 01:00 p.m. – After our lunch we will return to the city of Arequipa. If on the first day of our tour we do not know a point of departure to Chivay, on the return we can make a stop to be able to meet all the tourist stops, depending on the weather and the group. 05:00p.m. We will arrive in the city of Arequipa and we will drop you off at the hotel.
